Many US organizations unprepared for new privacy regulations, according to survey, & they’re wishing for a federal law

Privacy spending budgets are going up and corporate executives are concerned, but only 59% of those surveyed by Womble Bond Dickson law firm, felt their organization was “very prepared” to meet state guidelines in new US consumer privacy legislation. Further, 88% said they would prefer having a federal law to more state regulations. While 89% reported their tech budget had increased, the majority indicated it did so at a moderate pace.

Children’s Privacy: New age-check tools touted by Instagram seem more about age classification (and data collection??) than safety of kids

Instagram is testing new age verification tools, which could be good, however the company objective seems focused more on knowing user information than on keeping young children safely off the platform. Plans include verifying ages by 1) asking teens to submit ID, which the company would store, then later delete; 2) having teens ask three adult friends to vouch for their age; and 3) inviting them to submit a “video selfie,” which the parent company Meta would scan to “guess” ages. Action IQ CX Hub Separates CDP from Activation

ActionIQ has repackaged its product as CX Hub, creating separate modules to build profiles (the CDP), create audience segments, manage customer journeys, and support real-time interactions. The three activation modules can work with any data source, not just the ActionIQ CDP. The move puts ActionIQ on more equal footing with marketing cloud vendors who offer similar modules, although delivery systems like email, CRM, and web content management are not an option…yet.

Viant Optimizes Ads Based on Viewer Attention; Innovid Measures TV Creative Impact

Let’s face it: measuring carbon impact is nowhere near as close to marketers’ hearts as measuring ad results. In one intriguing development, adtech vendor Viant is working to optimize ad campaigns based on attention consumers pay to ads, using attention measurements from Adelaide.   In another, TV ad server Innovid has launched InnovidXP, which simultaneously measures ad results and creative performance across both linear and connected TV.

Klaviyo Launches Enterprise-Scale Unified Customer Platform

Email and messaging platform Klaviyo has launched Klaviyo One, which helps large brands to “ingest, unify, store, query and analyze customer data, from any integrated source, from any period of time”.  It sounds suspiciously like a CDP, although Klaviyo avoids the term and it’s not clear how easily the unified data can be shared with other systems.    Klaviyo’s 200+ existing integrations include CDPs Lexer, Lytics, Optimove, Simon Data, and Twilio Segment.
