Zero-party data fans its feathers

Zero-party data, a.k.a. the data consumers give you by choice, can out-perform first-party data in garnering consumer trust, according to the Zero Party Data Revolution report from survey company, Attest. Consumers are increasingly weary of sharing data and distrustful of brands, with 85% reporting they sometimes opt-out of being added to mailing lists, and 58% doing so habitually. Privacy professionals report being behind the 8 Ball getting GDPR compliance

Not for lack of trying, according to 1,000+ privacy professionals, but a vast majority of EU companies would likely be found out-of-compliance if a data protection officer showed up unannounced to check. In fact, 74.4% assumed there would be relevant violations at the average company, and 56% reported difficulties trying to convince higher ups to improve on compliance. And, according to advocacy group noyb, more than 32% even reported pressure from their senior management to limit GDPR compliance.

Children’s Privacy: The US’s KOSA fight over kids and social media – protection or censorious sleight of hand?
