Campaigns Using More Data Are More Successful: Simon Data Study

Simon Data’s 2022 State of Customer Data offers more to chew on.  They report their clients are using almost twice as many data points now as one year ago and that campaigns using more data are more successful.  They do caution that using too much data is a problem if you’re being creepy.

Two-Thirds of Companies Plan More Customer Data Use: Treasure Data Report

Is there anything more fascinating than other companies’ customer data strategies, Dear Reader?  I thought not.  Here’s a Treasure Data study on that very topic.  Random factoids: data silos are a more common problem (34%) than data quality (24%); data and IT departments are responsible for customer data strategy at 49% of companies, while marketing is responsible at 11%.; 63% of companies plan to expand use of customer data.

Disney and OpenAI Reach Licensing Agreement for Sora

Disney has agreed to license more than 200 characters, costumes, and environments (but not voices or talent likenesses) to OpenAI for Sora, its gen AI video platform. This is highly unusual for Disney, which generally sues AI models for copyright infringement; in fact, it sued Google for that a day before announcing the OpenAI deal. Disney will also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, nicely illustrating how very eager they are to join the AI party.
