Definitely on the bright side, Optimove has released “self-optimizing journeys”, which autonomously determines the next best action for each individual customer. While next best action isn’t new, Optimove says its approach looks beyond short-term metrics to maximize lifetime value. Good stuff.

Conviva reports that streaming media consumption increased when people were trapped at home. The American Customer Satisfaction Index confirms that and adds it made them cranky: satisfaction with search engines, internet news and social media all fell. No prize for guessing that social media rates the worst on privacy.

CDP mParticle Sold to Rokt for $300 Million

CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million.  It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.  (See this blog post for more analysis.)
