Italy Orders Meta to Allow Rival AI Chatbots on WhatsApp

A few weeks ago, Meta announced it would end access to general purpose AI chatbots on WhatsApp , but leave its own Meta AI chatbot in place, effective January 15. The Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) has ordered Meta to suspend that policy because it "appears to constitute an abuse" of its dominant market position. Meta plans to appeal.
