EDPB bans Meta from EEA personal data use for ad targeting

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has told Ireland’s regulator to impose a permanent ban on Meta processing personal data for behavioral advertising from the entire European Economic Area (EEA). This, which stops the company from selling ads to its 258 million Facebook and Instagram users there. It is the result of Meta’s not adhering to regulator orders imposed last year by Norway.

DXPs Account for 26% of CMS Market: Winterberry Group Study

Digital Experience Platforms, which manage experiences across all customer channels, may eventually replace Content Management Systems but right now account for just 26% of the CMS market, according to this Winterberry Group study for Brightspot.  In line with that: content creation is the most common use (74%) while omnichannel experience ranks fifth at 44%.   CDPs are the third-most-common integration (29%) after Digital Asset Management (36%) and Product Information Management 30%); CRM is last 8%.

Germany rules LinkedIn breached GDPR

The regulator agreed with vzbv, a consumer rights organization that LinkedIn can’t ignore ‘Do Not Track’ (DNT) browser setting preferences because that’s in violation of GDPR. This is significant because a lot of other companies have ignored this as a user preference, but LinkedIn which said in a notice it wouldn’t observe DNT, has now been flagged for that and it serves as a test case going forward.

Zeta Global to Buy LiveIntent for $250 Million

CDP and marketing cloud vendor Zeta Global announced an agreement to purchase LiveIntent, which helps companies do email-based advertising.  The deal will let Zeta expand its identity graph, enter the publisher monetization business, and accelerate its mobile and retail media products.  Zeta will pay $77.5 million in cash and $172.5 million in common stock, with potential for additional payments based on performance.
