Facebook mobile app debuts ‘Link History’

Ever wish you could have all sites you visit tracked – I actually, thought they already were…. Well, if so Facebook’s there for you and has helpfully introduced ‘Link History’ feature which will (by default) give you a 30 day window of sites you’ve visited on their platform. Facebook’s support page casually mentions they “may” use the data for ad targeting.

The 2024 Advertising Outlook report from omnichannel ad platform Mediaocean sees a wave of optimism greeting in the new year with advertisers planning to increase spend across a range of channels, notably social media, digital display/video and CTV. While performance-driven paid media remains the most important investment for advertisers, a focus on brand advertising has steadily grown since 2022. The survey respondents included more than 1,000 Mediaocean customers, primarily marketers and agencies.

Attention — often based on reactions of opt-in panels to ads — is now competing with viewability as a valued attribute, and is being used to complement contextual metrics. Attention has been used in the past to test ads once they have been published; now it’s entering the pre-bid space.
