Concern is that TikTok’s location tracking and collection of user contact information and other data will be made available to Chinese authorities, even though local TikTok staff denies this happening.
A bipartisan bill to revise COPPA, raising the age of privacy protection and protecting against ads to children, moves to the US Senate. The amendment would raise the age of privacy protection to 16 years and it would require companies to gain consent for collection and enable young users to erase personal information.
The Colombian government, which provides journalists and other high-risk individuals bulletproof cars to ensure their safety while in the country, has been found to have installed GPS trackers on those same vehicles, so location can be reported on. Even more alarmingly, the system can also disable the cars’ engines.
Martech keeps taking larger bites out of marketing budgets: 17.3% last year, 19.9% this year, 23.5% next year, and 30.9% five years from now, according to the latest CMO Survey.
