Research on smartwatches that popular with parents for monitoring their kids found vulnerabilities that make them easy targets for hackers looking to steal private data. Cyber security company, Dr. Web, found that smartwatch brands, including Elari Kidphone and Wokka Lokka, often use third-party firmware and often don’t check for security allowing the products to be insecure.
The trojan apps which bypassed detection on Google Play, were for document scanners, QR code readers, fitness monitors and cryptocurrency apps.
CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million. It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.
