The country’s communications watchdog, Roskomnadzor, said it intends to fine, and possibly slow down the company’s traffic, if it doesn’t comply. This is part of a larger push to rein in western Big Tech.

Specifically, audio and language processing will remain with each device rather than making it available to the network.

Data privacy is important to them (68%), they don’t like getting targeted ads online (76%), and even more women (87%) than men (76%) would support ad changes that prevent this.
