Ireland’s regulator, which is responsible for Meta in the EU, has determined its Twitter-rival Threads does not sufficiently meet GDPR or EU privacy standards, so won’t be allowed there for the foreseeable future. Concerns are Threads uses sensitive Instagram user data, such as health, location, and search history, as well as behavioral and ad info.
Maybe marketers have finally started to grasp how little interest consumers have in personalized product recommendations. This RIS News study of grocery tech trends found that while consumers ranked personalized recommendations dead last (seventh out of seven), retailers ranked it fifth out of seven. Discounts headed the list for both groups. But there’s still a misalignment: 13% of consumers wanted personalized recommendations, while 48% of retailers thought they did.
ChatGPT’s ‘Browse with Bing’ recently launched as ChatGPT Plus, a paid feature that enables users to access information beyond the year 2021. However, the service is currently disabled for repair following discovery that it also allowed users to bypass paywalls.
Retail and hospitality customer engagement platform Givex has added the ability to create comprehensive customer profiles that include interaction data from other systems. The new product, GivexEngageAI, also develops customer segments, executes marketing campaigns, and recommends next best actions. The company refers to it as a CDP and it does appear to tick all of our boxes.
