IRS poised to give ICE sensitive data on undocumented workers: ~Cost $100B
Despite its cost-cutting fervor, the US government may forgo ~$100 billion in tax revenue in favor of finding and challenging undocumented immigrants. Never mind that records held by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) have been amongst the most closely guarded data in the past to protect individual personal and financial information. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is pressing for the data, which means taxpayers may be reluctant to file out of fear of harassment.
