Italy’s regulator fined delivery app Foodinho €5M (US $5.24M) for transmitting the data of 35,000 of its riders to third parties and for using their biometric data. The company has also received past fines for privacy breaches.
The US Department of Justice has a mass Google shakeup in mind which would include the divestiture of its Chrome browser and wholesale sharing of its enormous trove of search data with competitors. Super scary, given it would include data from search queries, clicks and device identification.
Cameroon just served up a draft of its data protection bill for debate and is getting pushback from some digital rights groups. Concerns are for clearer definitions about what is covered in the law, worries that the regulator overseeing privacy is closely tied to government, and because protections for whistleblowers has not been defined.
