IT’S THE LAW (01/24/2023)

Meet DORA, the EU’s newly enacted Digital Operational Resilience Act, which is designed to strengthen IT security in the financial sector. It will be de rigueur for financial institutions; including banks, credit providers, securities and trading companies, and information and communication technology (ICT) organizations. DORA comes into full force in 2025, by which time companies and organizations should be compliant.

Online pharmacies sharing abortion pill data

ProPublica found that nine of eleven online pharmacies selling abortion pills used web trackers that share sensitive data with Google. This can put customers at risk since data could be shared with law enforcement. The 9: Abortion Ease, BestAbortionPill.com, PrivacyPillRX, PillsOnlineRX, Secure Abortion Pills, AbortionRx, Generic Abortion Pills, Abortion Privacy and Online Abortion Pill Rx; collect web addresses visited; click, location and search data; and information on devices being used.

Zeta Global to Buy LiveIntent for $250 Million

October 9, 2024

CDP and marketing cloud vendor Zeta Global announced an agreement to purchase LiveIntent, which helps companies do email-based advertising.  The deal will let Zeta expand its identity graph, enter the publisher monetization business, and accelerate its mobile and retail media products.  Zeta will pay $77.5 million in cash and $172.5 million in common stock, with potential for additional payments based on performance.
