IT’S THE LAW (01/24/2023)

Meet DORA, the EU’s newly enacted Digital Operational Resilience Act, which is designed to strengthen IT security in the financial sector. It will be de rigueur for financial institutions; including banks, credit providers, securities and trading companies, and information and communication technology (ICT) organizations. DORA comes into full force in 2025, by which time companies and organizations should be compliant.

Online pharmacies sharing abortion pill data

ProPublica found that nine of eleven online pharmacies selling abortion pills used web trackers that share sensitive data with Google. This can put customers at risk since data could be shared with law enforcement. The 9: Abortion Ease,, PrivacyPillRX, PillsOnlineRX, Secure Abortion Pills, AbortionRx, Generic Abortion Pills, Abortion Privacy and Online Abortion Pill Rx; collect web addresses visited; click, location and search data; and information on devices being used.

Salesforce Buys for Automated Customer Service

Salesforce is buying, which builds low-code, AI-powered e-commerce customer service agents.  You might have thought Salesforce could already do that, but presumably Airkit does it better.  It doesn’t hurt that the company founders sold a previous business to Salesforce, the company was partly funded by Salesforce Ventures, and the product is already listed on AppExchange.  Price was not announced.
