Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) Chairman has announced the country intends to proceed with its personal data law and possibly have it in place early June. If so, it would make it the third Association of Southeast Asian Nations,(Asean) country after Singapore and the Philippines to have such a law in place.
Anonymous, the hacktivist group that last month claimed to have hacked into Russian state television and picked up anti-war messaging and video of the Ukraine invasion. It now says it has government data, including on copyright and censorship, and that it also breached email and data for a state-backed oil and gas company.
A new research study has shown that even without location data tracking, your mobility patterns and even your future location plans can be deduced with great accuracy. The researchers from the University of Rochester analyzed three location data sets and one call data set to see what could be predicted. They found that information on people socially tied to you can provide up to 95% of what’s needed to predict your mobility – and strangers can provide as much as 85% - yikes!
Procrastinators of the world can throw a party whenever they get around to it: Google has once more pushed back complete third-party cookie deprecation. The new target is “early next year.” Reasons for the delay include concerns expressed by U.K. data regulator Information Commissioner’s Office, an ongoing inquiry by the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority, and widespread discontent in the advertising ecosystem.
