Seems there are some holes in Switzerland’s legendary commitment to privacy. The country is poised to change encryption laws that govern VPNs by extending surveillance obligations and requiring companies to ID their users. This would undermine VPNs’ strict no-log policies.
Researchers at a Madrid science institute discovered Meta and its Russian counterpart Yandex were able to evade privacy protections of Android users by funneling cookies – from websites that contain tracking scripts – to their own apps. This enabled them to analyze web data and make it available to their own apps by bypassing user permissions, incognito mode and working around device IDs.
