IT’S THE LAW (06/26/2024)

The US Office for Civil Rights (OCR) issued a Final Rule amending the Privacy Rule of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and that goes into effect this month. This was instituted by the Federal government in response to the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson ruling to not protect abortion rights and is designed to protect individual privacy and the integrity of the provider-patient relationship.
