IT’S THE LAW (10/19/2021)

Florida’s Protecting DNA Privacy Act (the “Act”) went into effect this month, amending Florida’s genetic privacy law and potentially elevating unlawful use of DNA to the level of a felony, up from a misdemeanor minor charge. This will prohibit medical insurers from canceling or denying coverage based on DNA findings, or setting different premiums around genetics.

It’s tough to get brand safety right, but the industry keeps trying.  IPG Mediabrands announced a new set of tools to find and block inappropriate ad placements, while IAS expanded its suitability measurements to include standards from the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM).  Meanwhile, DoubleVerify admitted a mistake made brand safety on X/Twitter look worse than it really was in October 2023 and March 2024.
