New York City sues Big Tech social claiming kid mental health harms
The City of New York is suing California-based social media giants, including Meta, Alphabet, ByteDance and Snap saying platforms’ gross negligence have created a mental health crisis that is straining the city’s resources. This is part of a larger trend of lawsuits being brought against social media companies. New York City is now one of the largest plaintiffs in this type of suit, with more than 8 million in population and nearly two million residents under age 18.
