Olympics: mass AI surveillance & Israeli athlete data leak
At the Olympics, privacy advocates have objected to use of algorithmic video surveillance cameras gathering footage in the city. This is subsequently being analyzed by AI – to predict and to detect threats. Concerns are about built-in bias, false positives, and that this will set a precedent for biometric data collection at other mega events.
At the same time, despite the heightened security to protect Israeli athletes, the ‘Zeus’ Hacker Group gained access to sensitive, personal data and published it on Telegram.
