The Cyber Security and Resilience Bill (CSRB) proposes to protect the UK from hackers via incident reporting and managing supply chain vulnerability. It also places new controls on large data centers and mandates speedy reporting of breaches. Pending Parliament’s adoption, the law could be in effect in 2026.
Forty Democratic lawmakers notified Democratic governors that ICE has access to state drivers’ data, despite the belief it is protected. This is because Nlets, a nonprofit that facilitates transmission of state data to law enforcement agencies, shares it openly. Turns out both ICE and the US Department of Homeland Security made nearly 900,000 queries to that system in the past year.
Kazakhstan has a new AI law which outlines obligations for owners and users of AI systems. This includes a ban on AI that is manipulative or improperly handles personal data. Fun fact: Kazakhstan is the world’s ninth largest country (by land area).
