The UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) confirmed LinkedIn will no longer use UK user data to train AI. The company confirmed it also won’t use data from the European Economic Area or Switzerland, at least “until further notice.” Elsewhere, users must make the change manually by going to their Data & Privacy setting and toggling “Off.”
The first half of this year saw a very slight uptick in digital commerce M&A activity compared with the second half of 2023. The rise is slight, from 1,063 deals to 1,089 but is said to reflect a recovery from the post-pandemic trend. Median revenue multiple in the space declined for the second consecutive six-month period.
Genetic testing company 23andMe agreed to pay $30 million for a class action that resulted from a major data breach in 2023. The company, which has struggled financially and unsuccessfully tried to go private earlier this year, was alleged to have not properly notified customers of the breach. This included ethnic groups that were singled out for having their data taken.
CDP and marketing cloud vendor Zeta Global announced an agreement to purchase LiveIntent, which helps companies do email-based advertising. The deal will let Zeta expand its identity graph, enter the publisher monetization business, and accelerate its mobile and retail media products. Zeta will pay $77.5 million in cash and $172.5 million in common stock, with potential for additional payments based on performance.
