Australia-founded startup Checkmate raises $5M to build a “centralised e-commerce experience”

Checkmate, an Australian designed shopping tool that scours the web for best deals, has secured $5 million seed funding from Fuel Capital. Available as a mobile app or laptop extension, Checkmate finds deals and applies them at checkout, so customers can get last-minute deals. It also can manage orders, store gift cards and track deliveries.

Google Again Delays Third-Party Cookie Deprecation

Procrastinators of the world can throw a party whenever they get around to it: Google has once more pushed back complete third-party cookie deprecation.  The new target is “early next year.” Reasons for the delay include concerns expressed by U.K. data regulator Information Commissioner’s Office, an ongoing inquiry by the U.K. Competition and Markets Authority, and widespread discontent in the advertising ecosystem.
