Blueshift Adds In-App Messaging

CDP Blueshift has added native in-app messages, letting users create highly personalized messages in multi-channel marketing campaigns. It has also enhanced its message creation studio. Blueshift calls itself a Customer Data Activation Platform to emphasize that its scope extends beyond data assembly to selecting customer messages.

Consumers Prioritize Convenience Over Experience: Oracle Retail Study

One of my favorite themes these days is that marketers focus on personalization while consumers want value.  Let’s add some wood to that fire with this Oracle Retail study, which found that consumers rate convenience as the most important part of a great in-store experience (56%), ranking experience far behind at 37%. Yet retailers prioritize them equally: experience 35% vs. convenience 34%.

Google Plans New Consumer Controls Over Targeted Ads

Google will give consumers more control over the ads they see, replacing current Ad Settings and About this Ad options with My Ad Center later this year .  The unified offering will let users specify the brands and topics they want to see, change personal information used to target ads, and make it easier to see who paid for an ad they are viewing.  It’s doubtful many consumers will bother with the settings but the features give more control to those who care.
