Let’s start with Adobe’s enhancements to its Magento Commerce platform, including Amazon stores, Google ad campaigns, integration with Adobe Analytics, streamlined content creation, improved inventory management, and more. These were announced at Magento’s imagine 2019 conference in Las Vegas.
Sprout Social earns an obviousness stripe for reporting that Facebook is the most popular social channel. They get two more stripes for finding that social posts with discounts are most likely to encourage shopping while entertaining posts are most likely to be shared. Less obvious: despite all the bad publicity, nearly 45% of consumers have increased social media usage in the past six months.
Meta has announced agreements with USA Today, People Inc., and other news publishers to pay for access to their content and link to their articles in its AI chatbot. It’s a sharp contrast to Perplexity, which the Chicago Tribune and New York Times are separately suing for allegedly scraping content and bypassing paywalls. Despite this deal, Meta apparently still opposes compensating publishers for news links in social media posts.
