Companies Struggle to Get Value from AI Deployments: Deloitte Report

This Deloitte report finds that AI deployments are growing rapidly, with 79% of respondents reporting three or more full-scale deployments, up from 62% one year ago.  But Deloitte also finds that more organizations (21% vs 17% last year) have deployed many projects but had low outcomes.  Cost reduction is the most common successful outcome but AI applications are roughly as frequent in customer experience and marketing as in operations, finance, and human resources.

India’s regulator slaps Google with $162M fine over Android apps

The Competition Commission of India issued a $162.9 million fine and issued a cease and desist order to stop Google’s anti-competitive practices of favoring its own suite of Android apps over competitors’. The ruling comes at the same time lawmakers in Asia, Europe and the US are examining Google’s market dominance. Last month, the company received a massive $4 billion fine from the EU also related to Android.

New Brand Safety Initiatives from IPG Mediabrands, IAS. Apology from DoubleVerify

It’s tough to get brand safety right, but the industry keeps trying.  IPG Mediabrands announced a new set of tools to find and block inappropriate ad placements, while IAS expanded its suitability measurements to include standards from the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM).  Meanwhile, DoubleVerify admitted a mistake made brand safety on X/Twitter look worse than it really was in October 2023 and March 2024.
