Hacking that tech could lead to crashes and injuries if bad players seek an unfair advantage in the races.
Although local TV viewing panel data will continue to be available for research and analysis, Nielsen has announced the addition of “big data” from set-top boxes and smart TV platforms and services to its local market ratings. Fragmentation of TV viewing habits has led to instability in measurements derived from local “over-the-air” panels. A test run of data-plus-panel showed a slight overall 4% to 5% increase in TV-video usage.
Texas sued General Motors for selling the data of 16 million drivers without consent. The data which included extensive information on driving behavior, was sold to insurance companies and often resulted in increased premiums.
Google is facing another antitrust lawsuit, this time in Canada, specifically focusing on anti-competitive practices in online advertising. The Competition Tribunal has been asked to order Google to sell two of its ad tech tools, prohibit future anti-competitive practices and fine the company billions of dollars. In response, Google points to a highly competitive market offering plenty of alternatives.
