Dollar General Partners with Criteo to Boost Media Network

Dollar General is partnering with commerce platform Criteo to integrate its self-service DSP Commerce Max into the Dollar General Media Network platform. While Dollar General customers tend to shop in store, they deliver large quantities of web traffic while researching products online to compile shopping lists. Commerce Max will enable advertisers to reach shoppers at this stage of their journey.

People Believe Journalists Use AI but Prefer News from Humans: Reuters/Oxford University

Much of the public assumes journalists are using AI for tasks like writing headlines (29%) and editing (43%). However, the survey of around 2,000 people in each of six countries, including the U.S., were uncomfortable with AI being used to produce content about “hard news” topics like politics and international affairs. Almost 50% thought that an article written by AI should be labeled as such.

CDP mParticle Sold to Rokt for $300 Million

CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million.  It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.  (See this blog post for more analysis.)
