Online marketplace Etsy has signed an agreement to purchase Elo7, a privately held marketplace for handmade items that is one of the top ten ecommerce sites in Brazil. Price is $217 million in cash. Elo7 connects around 1.9 million active buyers with 56,000 active sellers.
Media planning and measurement vendor Comscore has announced a partnership with data intelligence platform Retargetly to offer a cookieless targeting solution for major countries in Latin America. The system will use artificial intelligence to place ads in contexts that are similar to Retargetly audiences. Retargetly’s data platform is used by more than 300 brands across the region.
Grupo Globo, Latin America’s largest media company, has extended its data management agreement with Palantir Technologies by two years. Palantir unifies data from Globo’s different divisions, helping it to build unified advertising services and better understand customer behaviors.
The U.S. Senate has passed a bill that could potentially ban TikTok in the U.S. if its Chinese owner, ByteDance, does not sell its holdings within a year. The bill now goes to the President Biden, who has said he will sign it. Court challenges are likely to follow.
