Data movement platform Fivetran has signed an agreement to acquire composable CDP Census. With the acquisition, Fivetran will be able to support the movement of governed, automated, and real-time data across the enterprise stack, from source systems to data platforms and back into business applications. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
They say privacy information provided to South Africans is far less than what is given to EU and other users. This is consistent with the concern that big tech traditionally gives short shrift to African country privacy laws as compared with laws in other parts of the world.
“This is an injunction, not a negotiation,” said an Oakland district judge, referring to an order that she has found Apple violated. The order had required Apple to allow greater competition in its app store (it was recently fined by the EU for similar misconduct). The judge referred the company to federal prosecutors for a criminal contempt investigation.
Disney has agreed to license more than 200 characters, costumes, and environments (but not voices or talent likenesses) to OpenAI for Sora, its gen AI video platform. This is highly unusual for Disney, which generally sues AI models for copyright infringement; in fact, it sued Google for that a day before announcing the OpenAI deal. Disney will also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, nicely illustrating how very eager they are to join the AI party.
