The consumer watchdog, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), took Google to the Federal Court last year. The Federal Court found Google represented to some Android users that the setting titled Location History was the only account setting that affected whether Google collected, kept and used personally identifiable data about their location.
The University of Western Australia notified students and alumni of the breach of its Callista student information system as investigations into the extent of the “random attack” continue. The university said personal information held in Callista that was accessed included names, residential addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, course details and photos.
On Group, a Vietnam-based social commerce startup, announced that it has acquired local shipping aggregator TopShip. Following the deal, TopShip will be renamed to OnShip and act as one of the three main pillars of On’s ecosystem: logistics, sourcing, and financing.
GrowthLoop will use TransUnion identity data to improve U.S. consumer match rates on client files sent to advertising media such as Facebook and Google Ads. The data should also help clients to find matches among records within their files, building more accurate customer profiles. GrowthLoop calls itself a “composable CDP”, meaning it works with data assembled in external data warehouses.
