WP Engine, the WordPress hosting platform, is launching a new AI toolkit designed to integrate with websites built on WordPress. The aim is to lift barriers to AI usage for the large WordPress community. Features include Smart Search AI, an AI-powered recommendation tool, as well as support for developers building apps for digital experiences powered by a site’s WordPress data.

The consent management space is consolidating as Didomi acquires former rival Sourcepoint with its strong publisher market share. The acquisition is backed by Didomi’s Marlin Equity Partners, which recently completed a majority investment in the company to support its global expansion. The recently acquired server-side tagging platform Addingwell will now serve Sourcepoint as well as Didomi customers.

Disney has agreed to license more than 200 characters, costumes, and environments (but not voices or talent likenesses) to OpenAI for Sora, its gen AI video platform. This is highly unusual for Disney, which generally sues AI models for copyright infringement; in fact, it sued Google for that a day before announcing the OpenAI deal. Disney will also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, nicely illustrating how very eager they are to join the AI party.
