Google stops enforcing Play Store billing in India after antitrust order

Following a recent ruling by India’s competition regulator, Google announced it has halted the enforcement of its Play Store billing policy in the country, which requires developers to pay up to 30% for in-app purchases. The announcement arrives days after the Competition Commission of India ordered Google to let app developers use alternative payment systems and fined it $113 million for abusing its market power. The country also issued a fine of $161.9 million on the company the previous week for being anti-competitive in the Android mobile device market.

CDP mParticle Sold to Rokt for $300 Million

CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million.  It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.  (See this blog post for more analysis.)
