ID.me Raises $132 Million for Identity Verification

You can think of ID.me as a mirror image of companies that do identity resolution for marketing: instead of unmasking people who haven’t identified themselves, ID.me verifies that people are who they claim and gives them more control over how their data is shared. They just raised a $132 million Series D , bringing total funding to over $240 million.

MRC Drops Accreditation of Comscore Media Metrix

The world of media measurement is filled with intrigue and plot twists, although I suspect only insiders follow it in detail. If you happen to be one of them, you may be excited to learn that the Media Rating Council has revoked its accreditation of Comscore’ Media Metrix desktop digital audience measurement service, one of the pillars of the industry. Then again, if you follow it in detail, you probably knew that already.

CDP mParticle Sold to Rokt for $300 Million

CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million.  It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.  (See this blog post for more analysis.)
