To increase the internet penetration rate in Africa to 51% by 2025, The Smart Africa Alliance, a group of primarily 32 African countries, has teamed up with Japanese technology giant, SoftBank, on the use of non-terrestrial connectivity to spread internet access to underserved regions on the continent.
Microverse has developed an online coding academy with a collaborative learning system, curriculum designed for a diverse range of candidates, and deferred tuition until graduates land a job. The company projects the more than 1,000 full-time students will go through the program this year, including about 75% from Africa and Latin America. It just announced $12.5 million in venture capital funding.
Preliminary findings by the European Commission state that Apple and Google are in violation of the EU’s Digital Markets Act. Among the findings, Google Search is accused of prioritizing Google’s own products and services in results; Apple is instructed to improve interoperability between iOS and third-party devices.
