Kroger Retail Media Adds Video and CTV Ads

Kroger was a pioneer of the retail media industry, which distributes ads through retailers’ own channels such as email and in-store displays.  They’ve just taken a logical next step, using Kroger customer data to target video and CTV ads in channels that Kroger doesn’t own.  Clients buy the ads in the Kroger Private Marketplace, a self-service platform for ad agencies and brands.

CDP mParticle Sold to Rokt for $300 Million

CDP mParticle is being acquired by ecommerce platform Rokt for a price of $300 million.  It’s the third acquisition of a leading independent CDP in a little over one month, following Uniphore’s purchase of ActionIQ and Contentstack’s purchase of Lytics. All three buyers offer some type of customer-facing technology; apparently they’ve decided that adding real-time profiles from CDP will give them a competitive edge.  (See this blog post for more analysis.)
