First we have a survey from Searchspring that found online sales grew during 2020 and most companies expect them to grow further in 2021. Slightly less obvious: 61% will invest in ecommerce personalization this year.
This follows Apple’s recent announcement that it plans to ask iPhone users’ consent to track their data, so the company can offer personalized ads. Facebook has raised concern this may be anti-competitive behavior, since Apple’s personalized ad platform wouldn’t have to provide users an opt-in for tracking by third parties.
This study from Stratix is a fountain of obviousness: just over 70% of companies lost revenue due to COVID; just under 70% had employees work from home; and priorities shifted to contactless technology and wearables. Most delightfully obvious of all: companies with a stronger IT foundation were most able to adapt to the new situation.
AI-edited content is less concerning than AI-generated content — that’s the takeaway from Meta’s adjustment to its AI labeling on Facebook and other platforms. The “AI info” label will continue to appear on AI-generated content. Where content has only been modified or edited using AI, the label will appear more demurely in the post’s menu.
