Most Company Data Remains in Private Data Centers: Denodo Research

Cloud databases are growing, but the majority of data remains in private data centers, according to this Denodo survey of data professionals.   Security, compliance, and governance is the top barrier to cloud adoption (72%).  Just 17% say they’re currently using cloud systems for data integration, analytics, and management, although another 29% are considering it.

Marketers Fear Impact of Cookie Loss on Measurement: Mediaocean Report

“Transparency” is the most overused buzzword in advertising, says to this Mediaocean survey, followed closely by “cookieless/privacy-safe”.  “Customer Data Platform” doesn’t even make the list, which feels like a failure on our part.  More substantively, the study finds that marketers are more worried about the impact of cookie loss on their measurement capabilities than on marketing results.  Interesting.

Disney and OpenAI Reach Licensing Agreement for Sora

Disney has agreed to license more than 200 characters, costumes, and environments (but not voices or talent likenesses) to OpenAI for Sora, its gen AI video platform. This is highly unusual for Disney, which generally sues AI models for copyright infringement; in fact, it sued Google for that a day before announcing the OpenAI deal. Disney will also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, nicely illustrating how very eager they are to join the AI party.
