New York to Limit Teens’ Access to ‘Addictive’ Social Media Feeds
New York parents will be allowed to block minors’ access to social media posts suggested by platform algorithms (“addictive” feeds, some say) under a law passed by the state legislature that Governor Kathy Hochul is expected to sign. Children will only get posts from accounts they follow unless they have verified parental consent. The state Attorney General will set the rules for verifying member ages and parent consent.
