OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search is Finally Here

A potential Google competitor, ChatGPT Search was long rumored, then announced and is finally here and available for use. It generates responses to natural language prompts but also includes links. Now all search marketers have to do is figure out how to rank in the results.

Advertising Industry is Done With Cookies: ID5

Around three-quarters of advertisers, adtech businesses and publishers have embraced a cookieless future according to an international survey of 200 in the industry by ID5. Around the same number are refusing to rethink as a result of Google’s pivot away from (itself) deprecating cookies. Most attributed Google’s pivot to Privacy Sandbox criticisms (63%) while almost as many cited the investigation by the U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority.

Disney and OpenAI Reach Licensing Agreement for Sora

Disney has agreed to license more than 200 characters, costumes, and environments (but not voices or talent likenesses) to OpenAI for Sora, its gen AI video platform. This is highly unusual for Disney, which generally sues AI models for copyright infringement; in fact, it sued Google for that a day before announcing the OpenAI deal. Disney will also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, nicely illustrating how very eager they are to join the AI party.
