Oracle Buys Grapeshot Brand Safety Solution

Grapeshot calls itself a ‘contextual intelligence platform’, which could mean just about anything. What they really do is analyze and classify Web page content. The main application these days is brand safety – that is, avoiding placing ads on pages with objectionable messages. Oracle just bought them for an undisclosed amount.

First, Evergage dives into personalization and finds that 88% of marketers think their customers expect it but just 31% think marketers get it right. A solid 87% report personalization has generated a measureable lift in results. Good detail here on channels, data sources, obstacles, and such. Best factoid: the proportion thinking personalization should be a high priority has grown from 64% in 2016 to 77% in 2018.

Zeta Global to Buy LiveIntent for $250 Million

CDP and marketing cloud vendor Zeta Global announced an agreement to purchase LiveIntent, which helps companies do email-based advertising.  The deal will let Zeta expand its identity graph, enter the publisher monetization business, and accelerate its mobile and retail media products.  Zeta will pay $77.5 million in cash and $172.5 million in common stock, with potential for additional payments based on performance.
