Retail media is about retailers selling ads like publishers, so you might think that publishers could tap into retail media budgets with no special effort.  Not so.  Adtech platform Perion is helping publishers to execute retail media-style campaigns by serving ads near store locations with dynamic, product-specific messages and real-time pricing updates.

AWS Will Access and Manage Enterprise Data Across Lakes and Warehouses

Composable CDPs aren’t the only systems that can use enterprise data without copying it into a separate database.  At last week’s re:invent conference, AWS announced Amazon SageMaker Unified Studio will let customers access and manage enterprise data across data lakes and warehouses as well as applications. Also, SageMaker’s Zero ETL feature will run analytics directly on data within warehouses and lakes.

Disney and OpenAI Reach Licensing Agreement for Sora

Disney has agreed to license more than 200 characters, costumes, and environments (but not voices or talent likenesses) to OpenAI for Sora, its gen AI video platform. This is highly unusual for Disney, which generally sues AI models for copyright infringement; in fact, it sued Google for that a day before announcing the OpenAI deal. Disney will also invest $1 billion in OpenAI, nicely illustrating how very eager they are to join the AI party.
