FTC to Investigate ‘Surveillance Pricing’

The Federal Trade Commission announced it will investigate so-called “surveillance pricing,” the use of AI to determine the price of products or services based on analysis of customers’ characteristics and behavior. Among the companies to be investigated are MasterCard and JPMorgan Chase. Most of us would call this “dynamic pricing”, which consumers generally hate (and an earlier, Republican-dominated FTC said was okay).

Google: Cookies are Here to Stay

Four years after announcing plans to deprecate third-party cookies on the Chrome browser, Google this week announced that cookies are here to stay. Google’s attempts to develop alternatives to cookies had faced criticism from regulators and the adtech world. Google will continue to develop alternatives in its Privacy Sandbox, but Chrome users will be able to make an “informed choice” about whether to receive cookies or not.

Movable Ink Integrates With Adobe Journey Optimizer

Email and mobile personalization platform Movable Ink has announced a new integration between its Da Vinci content personalization solution and Adobe Journey Optimizer. Joint customers will be able to develop content assets aimed at each individual email recipient and bring them into Adobe Journey Optimizer for deployment. This builds on an existing integration between Movable Ink Da Vinci and Adobe Campaign.
