Study: 73% of Companies Not Ready for GDPR

Data Privacy Day came and went last week with little notice, but the May 2018 deadline for complying with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is coming closer whether you’re paying attention or not. A recent study by Osterman Research found that 73% of mid-sized and large organizations were not confident they could meet key GDPR requirements. The paper includes an excellent explanation of GDPR background and compliance rules. Note that data about EU citizens is covered wherever it’s stored and whoever is storing it. That means many U.S. firms need to comply.
