TikTok Ban Set to Become Law

The U.S. Senate has passed a bill that could potentially ban TikTok in the U.S. if its Chinese owner, ByteDance, does not sell its holdings within a year. The bill now goes to the President Biden, who has said he will sign it. Court challenges are likely to follow.

UK Data Regulator Has Concerns About Privacy Sandbox

Flaws in Google’s Privacy Sandbox proposals could allow users’ anonymity to be compromised and permit tracking, says the U.K.’s Information Commissioner’s Office according to documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal. Among its responsibilities, the ICO is charged with protecting data privacy. The concerns have been shared with the Competition and Markets Authority which is already scrutinizing Google’s proposals from an antitrust perspective.

CDP Industry Continues Shift to Embedded Systems: Report

The second half of 2024 saw the CDP industry continue its shift towards embedding CDPs in customer-facing systems, according to the CDP Institute’s latest Industry Update report. Nearly all firms new to the report had added a CDP to an existing product, and major acquisitions including ActionIQ, Lytics, and mParticle were all made by customer management vendors. The new report adds coverage of composable CDP vendors, which is still a much smaller sector than conventional CDP systems.
