Verizon Media and Catalina Match Profiles for Cookie-Free Targeting and Measurement

Catalina and Verizon Media are matching their identity graphs, making it possible for marketers to advertise to Verizon audiences and then see Catalina’s data on what audience members actually buy at retail.  Verizon Media has data on 148 million people while Catalina tracks 103 million U.S. households.  It’s all cookie-free.

Shopify Reduces App Store Developer Fees

Shopify is reducing the share of revenue it takes from app developers on its marketplace.  The move follows similar reductions by Apple, Google, and Amazon, who are all under anti-trust pressure that takes high app marketplace fees are prime evidence of monopoly positions.  Shopify’s particular change is to cut it’s current 20% fee to zero for developers who earn less than $1 million per year on its App Store and Theme Store.

New Brand Safety Initiatives from IPG Mediabrands, IAS. Apology from DoubleVerify

It’s tough to get brand safety right, but the industry keeps trying.  IPG Mediabrands announced a new set of tools to find and block inappropriate ad placements, while IAS expanded its suitability measurements to include standards from the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM).  Meanwhile, DoubleVerify admitted a mistake made brand safety on X/Twitter look worse than it really was in October 2023 and March 2024.
