LatAm startup funding down to lowest level in 5 years

Funding for Latin American startups hit its lowest point in January in the past five years, with no signs of improvement in February, according to the latest report by SlingHub. Latin American startups secured US$290 million in February, a 75% decline year-over-year. February recorded the lowest number of investment rounds since 2017. SlingHub listed 53 funding rounds for the month, down by 37%. Of total transactions, 28 took place in Brazil, and six each in Argentina, Chile and Mexico.

NTT expects short-term margin pressure as competition grows in India data centre business

NTT, the world’s third-largest data centre service provider, said increasing competition in the sector in India will likely lead to short-term margin pressure as clients become pickier about using cloud services. In addition to global technology giants Microsoft and Amazon, many local companies have cropped up since the pandemic to build data centres in India. However, NTT said the increasing competition isn’t expected to be a threat beyond the current short-term margin pressure.

Taiwan’s funP Innovation raises $3.12M to fuel smart retail and cloud drive into the Indonesia market

FunP Innovation Group, the Taiwan-based digital advertising sales and advertising technology conglomerate has announced it has secured $3.12 million from Ennoconn Corporation. FunP said that it will use this capital injection to develop and roll out smart retail and cloud services solutions for the Indonesian market and other Asia Pacific (APAC) countries, under its business unit cacaFly, in a partnership with Ennoconn.

APAC marketers say cookie wipe-out will ‘devastate’ biz, yet 79% up spend on cookie-led activations

Across APAC, the majority (79%) of brands still rely heavily on third-party cookies, with over half (56%) of leaders expecting the end of third-party cookies will hurt their businesses. Currently, 52% of APAC leaders still spend at least half of their marketing budgets on cookie-based activations – and 79% actually plan to increase spending on cookie-dependent activations this year.
