Banks, insurers, and other financial institutions in the EU want to keep Big Tech, including Amazon, Apple, Google, and Meta, from accessing its data on consumers and their buying patterns. Surprisingly, the financials may get their way.
This comes as the Financial Data Access Regulation (FiDA) moves toward finalization, expected later this year with implementation planned for 2027.

New Zealand has an addition to its new Privacy Amendment Act – the Information Privacy Principle 3A (IPP3A). IPP3A specifies that, beyond informing people information is collected, businesses obtaining information from other sources will be required to 1) notify individuals that their data was collected, 2) say why and whether it was authorized, and 3) tell where it’ll be held and how owners can correct it.
Mastercard has unveiled Mastercard Commerce Media, its new digital media network that can attribute conversion to in-store and online purchases. The network features a 25,000-advertiser base and reach to 500 million enrolled customers. A “growing collaboration” with WPP allows connection to traditional media.
