The UK Information Commissioner’s Office warned teachers it’s seeing a trend of increased school breaches, with more than 44% reporting a breach in the last year. An increasing number of these are carried out by students, sometimes on a dare or just for fun. Concern is, the breaches can cause considerable damage and they come at a time when youth cybercrime is on the rise.
A new California bill that would require browsers to include a tool to make it easier for consumers to opt out of behavioral ads has been approved by the legislature and has been sent to Governor Gavin Newsom. Newsom vetoed a similar industry-opposed bill last year, and it’s not clear whether he’ll accept this one.
If the proposed change is made, service providers with 5,000+ users would be required to collect government-issued identification that could then be accessible to law enforcement.
