The headline-grabbing conclusion of this INSEAD study is that ecommerce companies with tightly-integrated tech stacks grew more slowly under GDPR than companies with loosely coupled stacks. The academic jargon is nearly impenetrable but the authors seem to argue that tightly integrated stacks are harder to change, and this resulted in worse customer experience when GDPR enforcement began. It’s intriguing if not entirely convincing.
BetterUp and Stanford Social Media Lab define workslop as “AI-generated content that looks good, but lacks substance.” Their survey of 1,150 full-time desk workers in the U.S. finds that 40% received workslop in the last month, costing $186 per month per employee. For a 10,000-person company, that’s $9 million annually.
